Bangladesh suffered a disastrous series defeat against the USA after losing the first two matches against the USA in the ongoing USA vs Bangladesh T2OI series.

Bangladesh toured the USA for the three-match T20I series as both teams were facing each other in T20I cricket for the first time. The match was expected to help Bangladesh players adapt to the condition, but the USA side completely turned the table in the first two matches.

Bangladesh had previously played two matches in USA but both of them are against West Indies.

1st T20I match USA vs Bangladesh

Towhid Hridoy was the top scorer for the Bangladesh side. Hridoy scored 58 runs in 47 deliveries with a strike rate of 123.40, including four boundaries and two maximums.

Mahmudullah added 31 runs in 22 deliveries, Soumya Sarkar added 20 runs in 13 deliveries, and Liton Das added 14 runs to the scoreboard. Najumul Hossain Shanto and star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan didn’t make it to a double-digit score.

The USA in run chase looks comfortable in the power play overs, losing only 1 wicket in the power play.

Steven Taylor and Monank Patel set the platform for the run chase, while Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh finished the game chasing the target of 154 runs in 19.3 overs with 3 balls remaining.

Corey Anderson was the high scorer with 34 runs in 25 deliveries, while Harmeet Singh batted aggressively, adding 33 runs in just 13 balls with a fiery strike rate of 253.85.

2nd T20I USA vs Bangladesh

The USA came up with lots of positive hopes and confidence in the second T20I match after a 5-wicket victory against Bangladesh.

The visitors won the toss this time at Praire View Complex and elected to bowl first.

The USA again got off to a good start with their opening batters, as both batters played well. Steven Taylor added 31 runs in 28 deliveries, and Monank Patel added 42 runs in 38 deliveries for the USA side.

Aaron Jones added 35 runs in 34 deliveries in the middle overs and Corey Anderson’s 11 runs in 10 balls for the side, while Andries Gous, Harmeet Singh, Nitish Kumar, and Shadley Van Sochalkwyk couldn’t make it to a double-digit score.

As a result, the USA were restricted to just 144 runs in 20 overs, losing six wickets under the strict bowling performance of the Bangladesh bowlers.

Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Rishad Hossain picked up two wickets each for the Bangladesh side.

Opening batters Tanzid Hossain and Soumya Sarkar came out for an easy-looking chase for the experienced Bangladesh side.

Bangladesh started pretty well and was heading toward the easy-looking runchase as they were in need of just 37 runs in 30 deliveries with 5 wickets in the hand.

Things changed completely in the 17th and 18th overs as Bangladesh lost three big wickets to Shadley Van Sochalkwyk, Shakib Al Hasan, and Tanzim Hassan in just six deliveries that became the turning point of the game.

Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain couldn’t convert into the win as Bangladesh got bowled out for 138 runs in 19.3 overs, which caused them to lose an easy win match as the USA bowler pulled the game from the jaws of defeat against Bangladesh.

Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top scorer for the side with 36 runs in 34 deliveries.

Bangladesh failed to chase the target and lost the second T20I match against the USA by 6 runs, losing the series with 1 game remaining.

Ali Khan became Player of the Match for his three wickets in 3.3 overs while conceding only 25 runs. Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley Van Sochalkwyk picked up 2 wickets each for the side, while Jasdeep Singh and Corey Anderson also picked up 1 wicket each, contributing to the USA’s win.

The USA sealed the series with 2–0, while 1 match remains. The 3rd T20I will be played on May 25th.

Both sides will be seen in action again in the warm-up match of the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, May 28 at Grand Praire Stadium.

Bangladesh is placed in Group D along with South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Netherlands, while the USA is placed in Group A along with Canada, India, Ireland, and Pakistan.
