India Defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs: India vs Bangladesh

India defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs in the ICC Mens T20 World Cup 2024 final warm-up match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

India won the toss and elected to bat first in their only warm-up game before the T20 World Cup.

First Inning India vs Bangladesh 

India opened their inning with their Regular Opener Rohit Sharma and surprisingly with wicketkeeper Batter Sanju Samson while Mahedi Hasan started with a new ball.

Sanju Samson departed early in just the second over of the inning, where he got LBW out by Shoriful Islam and Bangladesh got their first wicket. Samson departed for just a single run while playing 6 deliveries.

Rishabh Pant entered at No. 3 for India and played a brilliant inning of 53 runs in just 33 deliveries before getting retired hurt. Pant hit 4 boundaries and 4 maximum at a strike rate of 165.63.

Rohit Sharma also got dismissed for just 23 runs in 19 deliveries at a strike rate of 121.05 with 2 boundaries and a maximum. Mahmudullah took the catch and Rishad Hossain got. his first wicket.

Surya Kumar Yadav smashed 31 runs in 18 deliveries with 4 boundaries at a strike rate of 172.22. Towid Hridoy took the catch to dismiss Yadav and Tanvir Islam got his first wicket.

Shivam Dube played a slow inning of 14 runs in 16 deliveries before getting caught by Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan got his first wicket.

Hardik Pandya played the finishing role in the first inning of the game smashing 40 runs in 23 deliveries with a strike rate of 173.91 with 2 boundaries and 4 maximums. Ravindra Jadeja also hits 4 runs in 6 deliveries. India posted a total of 182 runs to the board losing 5 wickets.

2nd Inning India vs Bangladesh 

With a huge target on board, Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar opened the inning for Bangladesh while Arshdeep Singh started with the new ball for India. 

Arshdeep Singh strikes early in the first over dismissing Soumya Sarkar for a duck after the ball got edged and caught behind by Rishabh Pant.`

The new batter at No. 3 Litton Das also didn’t last long and got bowled by Arshdeep Singh in his second over and Bangladesh was 7/2 after 2.1 over.

The batting side continuously struggled for the side yet another wicket fall, as Najmul Hossain Shanto departed for a duck and Mohammad Siraj got his first wicket.

Bangladesh side looks a bit stable for the next 3–4 overs but Axar Patel strikes in the eighth over of the inning dismissing Towhid Hridoy for just 13 runs in 14 deliveries. Jadeja took the catch to send Hridoy back to the pavilion.

The opening batter Tanzid Hasan who looks to play big also departed for just 17 runs in 18 deliveries with a strike rate of 94.44 in the 9th over and half of the side was back into the pavilion in just 8.2 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah stabilized the inning in the middle overs after early quick dismissals but Bangladesh was falling short of runs despite a good partnership from Shakib and Mahmudullah.

The partnership was finally broken by the key pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Shakib was dismissed for 28 runs in 34 deliveries as he got caught behind by Rishabh Pant.

Mahmudullah who was looking good retired hurt after scoring 40 runs in 28 balls with 1 boundary and a maximum at a strike rate of 142.86.

Shivam Dubey also shines with the ball in the final over dismissing Rishad Hossain and Jaker Ali in two back-to-back deliveries.

Tanzin Hasam Sakib and Mahedi Hasan remained not out for Bangladesh but Bangladesh only managed to post 122 runs to the scoreboards and fell short by 6o runs. 

India won by 60 runs with an all-round performance from the batters and bowlers. Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets each while Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya picked up 1 wicket each for the side.

India is placed in Group A and will play their first match in the World Cup against Ireland on Wednesday, June 5 while Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka on Saturday, June 8.
