Sandeep Lamichhane to play against South Africa and Bangladesh

Nepali Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is set to participate in the T20 World Cup against South Africa and Bangladesh in the West Indies. 

Nepali Spinner Lamichhane got a visa for the West Indies with no issues and is set to feature in the remaining two matches against South Africa and Bangladesh in the West Indies. 

The Cricket Association of Nepal had a press release from their official Cricket Association of Nepal-CAN page about the inclusion of Sandeep Lamichhane in the squad. Lamichhane had replaced the young pacer Pratish G.C in the 15-Member Squad.

CAN has stated that lamichhane was included on the 15-member squad of Nepal from 16 May and requested not to believe in the media trial against the CAN officials also asked for support from the Nation to their team in the greatest stage of cricket.

The US Embassy did not grant Nepali Spinner a Visa due to his recent controversial rape allegation case despite Lamichhane getting the court’s clean sheet from High Court Patan. 

Nepali Cricket fans conducted rallies and protests in support of Lamichhane against the US embassy after the embassy refused to grant a visa to the spinner. 

 Nepal played its first tournament match against the Netherlands where the Netherlands defeated Nepal by 6 wickets.

Sandeep Lamichhane also thanked the government of Nepal, Foreign Ministry, Sports Ministry, National Sports Council(NSC), and Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for their continuous support in helping him to get the Visa.

He also requested not to follow fake news allegation of visa over President Chatur Bahadur Chand and Secretary Paras Khadka.

He said “Please don’t follow all the false propaganda surrounding my visa issues that people are using to tarnish CAN and Nepal Cricket’s image”

Nepal will play against Sri Lanka on June 12, Wednesday at Central Broward Regional Park stadium in the USA which will be Nepal’s last match of the tournament in the USA. 

The Nepali cricket team will travel to the West Indies for its remaining two matches against South Africa and Bangladesh on June 15 and June 17 respectively. 

Both the matches will be played at Arnos Vale Stadium near Kingstown, St. Vincent.

The inclusion of Lamichhane in the squad will further strengthen the Nepali team as they will need to win all of their remaining matches to qualify for the Super-eight stage.

Nepali fans are ecstatic about the inclusion of their star Sandeep Lamichhane and hope to qualify for the super-eight stage by winning their remaining matches however Nepal needs to win against Sri Lanka to make themselves a strong contender for the top 2 for the super-eight.
