Match Update: Nepal vs Sri Lanka

The 23rd match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Nepal vs Sri Lanka is called off due to rain and both the teams share the point, bringing them closer to elimination. 

 Previously the toss is delayed due to rain and a wet outfield in Lauderhill, Florida at Central Broward Regional Park.

It was heavily raining during the toss at 11:02 GMT (the previous day) / 04:49 AM in Nepal and Toss was officially delayed.

The rain stopped at 05:03 AM (Nepali Time) / 11:14 GMT and ground staff and ground soppers were out to set the ground to be ready for the game. 

The ground was covered with rain and puddles in some areas and was expected to be ready within an hour but luck didn’t favor the teams and the match got called off. 

Nepal has 2 more remaining matches to be held in the West Indies against South Africa and Bangladesh at Arnos Vale Stadium.

Sri Lanka was heavily affected by the match being called off Nepal vs Sri Lanka which inches them closer to elimination as they have only one match remaining against the Netherlands on June 17.

Sri Lanka has suffered two defeats previously against South Africa and Bangladesh and Nepal was also defeated by the Netherlands in their first match.

Nepal needs to win both of their remaining matches to qualify for the Super Eight stage and Bangladesh and Netherlands need to lose at least one match.
