Phil Salt made A New Record in Eden Gardens

Phil Salt broke the 14-year-old record of Sourav Ganguly at Eden Gardens as he became the highest run-scorer at Eden Gardens in an IPL season.

He smashed 344 runs in just 6 innings at Eden Garden surpassing Sourav Ganguly’s 331 runs in 7 innings which was set in 2010. 

Chris Lynn in 2018 had managed to score 302 runs in 9 innings but failed to surpass Ganguly’s record.

In 2019, Power hitter Andre Russell scored 311 runs in 7 innings but not sufficient enough to break Ganguly’s 14-year-old record Phil Salt broke the record in just 6 innings as he is looking in dangerous form. 

Phil Salt surpassed the record after smashing 68 runs in 33 deliveries with 7 boundaries and 5 maximum against Delhi Capitals.

He also climbed to the top-five run scorer of the season with 392 runs in just 9 games. Virat Kohli is ruling on top of the table with 500 runs in 10 games, Ruturaj Gaikwad from CSK at second position with 447 runs in 9 games, Sai Sudarshan 418 runs in 10 games, Rishabh pant with 398 runs in 11 games and Salt at 5 with his 392 runs in 9 games. 

Kolkata Knight Rider’s dominant bowling performance from all the bowlers restricted the Delhi Capitals to just 153 runs in 20 overs where Varun Chakravarthy was awarded with Player of the match.

Kolkata Knight Rider won the match by 7 wickets by chasing the target in just 16.3 overs with 21 balls remaining.

Kolkata Knight Riders maintained their position at No. 2 with 12 points in 9 games and a strong net run rate of +1.092 just below Rajasthan Royal’s 16 points while Delhi Capitals is at No. 6 with 5 wins in 11 games and a negative run rate of 0.442. 

KKR will play its next game against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will play against Table-topper Rajasthan Royals.
