Harshit Rana got suspended for 1 match from IPL and 100% of match fees have been deducted by IPL for breaching the code of conduct in the 47th match of IPL 2024 on Monday, April 29.
Rana was found guilty of breaching the code of conduct for a level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the Ipl Code of Conduct which deals with the matter related ‘Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the Match’
What IPL Code of Conduct says?
Any language, action, or gesture used by a Player and directed towards a batter upon his/her dismissal that has the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter, whether or not any reaction results, or which could be considered to disparage or demean the dismissed batter, regardless of whether the batter him/herself feels disparaged or demeaned (in other words, a ‘send-off’). Without limitation, Article 2.5 includes
- excessive celebration directed at and in close proximity to the dismissed batter
- verbally abusing the dismissed batter
- pointing or gesturing toward the pavilion.
Harshit Rana was also previously warned and deducted 60% of his match fees for giving an ugly stare to Mayank Agarwal and celebrating in a way that comes under a violation of the code of conduct under the same article 2.5 and is now handed 1 match suspension for the repeated action.
Harshit Rana had picked up 2 wickets in the game against the Delhi Capitals. He had clean-bowled Abhishek Porel in the seventh over and gave the batter a send-off pointing toward the pavilion as he walked back.
