CSK VS GT: Chennai Super Kings won By Huge margin of 63  Runs

Chennai Super kings won the match with huge margin of 63 runs against the Titans. Shivam Dubey Rachin and Skipper Gaikwad contributed most in Batting while Every bowler’s combined bowling effort strict Titans for just 143 runs.

1st Inning

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bat first at M.A. Chidambaram. Opening Batsmen Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Dangerous man Rachin Ravindra opened the innings in style for Chennai. 

Rachin’s aggressive approach in the powerplay overs led Chennai off to a flying start as Rachin was only dealing in boundaries. Gaikwad from the other end played an anchor role Opening pair added 62 runs on the board and 69 at the end of the powerplay before Rachin got out in a misfortunate way. Rachin got stumped by Wriddhiman Shah after scoring a fiery knock of 46(20) including 6 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 230.

Ajinkya Rahane walked in at No. 3 but couldn’t make it long and got stumped by Wriddhiman Saha for 12(12) and R Sai Kishore got his first wicket. Shivam Dubey walked in at № 4 for Chennai. Gaikwad was looking strong at the other end and was continuously adding runs to the scoreboard.

Gaikwad also got caught behind after scoring 46 runs in 36 balls with 5 fours and 1 six as Gujarat made their comeback and Spencer Johnson got his first wicket. CSK were 127/3 after 13th over. Man in form Shivam Dube built an impactful inning for CSK with a strike rate of more than 200. Daryl Mitchell at No 5 stabilized the inning with Dubey playing the anchor role and giving a strike to Dubey. Dubey completed his half-century in style in just 23 deliveries with 2 fours and 5 sixes before he got caught by Vijay Shankar in the Nineteenth over bowled by Rashid Khan.

Young debutant Sameer Rizvi entered the crease and played a fiery knock for Chennai scoring 14 runs in 6 balls and departed in the mid-19 over of Mohit Sharma caught by David Miller and CSK were 199/5 Ravindra Jadeja walked in as there were still 3 deliveries remaining in 1st inning. Jadeja hit 7 runs in the last 3 deliveries scored 206 runs and set 207 for the visiting team. MS Dhoni is yet to bat in the ipl 2024 and the Ruturaj-led side has been in top gear from the beginning.

For Titans, Rashid picks up 2 wickets but with an expensive economy rate of 12.25. R Sai Kishore and Mohit Sharma picked 1 wicket each for the Titans. Spencer Johnson remains most economical with the rate of 8.75 picking 1 wicket in his 4-over spell.

The Runchase

Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha enter to open for the Titans. The Titans were looking for something big in the Powerplay overs but Skipper Gill got dismissed by Deepak Chahar with Lbw. Sai Sudharshan walked in at no 3 for GT. Early breakthrough For Chennai by Deepak Chahar yet he strike again and got Wriddhiman Saha a set man for 21 runs in 17 balls and GT were 34/2 after the 5th over.

Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan started building run-by-run for GT. Skipper Gaikwad brought Daryl Mitchell into attack and Mitchell did not upset the captain. With a brilliant catch from MS Dhoni to dismiss Vijay Shankar, Mitchell got his first wicket.

David Miller played a fine knock of 21 runs in 16 balls with 3 fours and got dismissed by Tushar Deshpande in the 12th over as he got caught by Ajinkya Rahane and GT were 96/4 at the end of the 12th over. Sai Sudharshan who was looking set also got caught by Sameer Rizvi and Pathirana got his 1st wicket.

None of the batters showed intent and ability to chase down the target as they were pressured by the huge target of 207 runs on the board. The tension in the Gujarat dugout peaked when Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan departed within the next 10 balls by Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman Respectively.

Rahul Tewatia was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman in the 19th over and Gujarat Titans ended up scoring just 143 runs in 20 over. Chennai Super Kings won the match by a huge margin of 63 runs climbed to the top of the points table and handed Titans the biggest loss in their 3 seasons.

Deepak Chahar picked up 2 wickets in powerplay giving away just 28 runs. Mustafizur Rahman also Picked up 2 wickets giving 30 runs. Deshpande also got 2 wickets being the most economical in a 4-over spell with just 21 runs. Matheesha Pathirana and Daryl Mitchell picked 1 wicket each for CSK. 

In the end, Chennai Super Kings won the match against GT by huge margin of 63 runs.  Shivam Dubey is the player of the match for his terrific knock of 51 runs in 23 deliveries with 2 fours and 5 sixes.
