The Skipper of Gujarat Titans was fined 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate while bowling first against defending Champion Chennai Super Kings iN M.A. Chidambaram Stadium(chepauk) on 26 March 2024.

While batting first Chennai had got a flying start with an aggressive approach from Rachin Ravindra and Dubey’s exceptional fifty in the middle overs led Chennai to a massive total of 206 runs. Due to continuous boundaries in every over, Skipper got engaged in a conversation with fellow mates for setting traps to Chennai batter. As a result, Gujarat was running behind the time. Gujarat was only allowed to set 4 fielders in the last over of the first inning due to their slow over rate.

With this Fine, Skipper Shubman became the first captain of Ipl 2024 to be fined for slow over-rate. Titans had never been imposed before for slow over rate As it was only the -first time Gujarat had been fined for  slow over-rate under IPL code of conduct.

Gujarat came to chase the massive target but only managed to get 143 runs on the board losing 8 wickets and Chennai Super Kings won by massive 63 runs. The Titans were handed the most expensive loss by 63 runs in the history of ipl in their short career from 2022–25.

The previous greatest loss they suffered was by 27 runs while chasing the target of 219 runs against Mumbai Indians back on 12 May 2023. The Titans were only able to manage 191 runs in the scoreboards losing 8 wickets.

This is only the eleventh loss(after the loss against CSK) the Titans have suffered in the history of ipl in a total of 35 Matches they played. The Titans had an amazing win percentage of more than 68% in the history of their IPL.

The Titans faced only their 5th loss out of 11 while chasing the target on March 26. The remaining 6 losses are because of not being able to defend the target. Gujarat will be Playing next Match against Sunriser Hyderabad on March 31.
