1ST INNING

Mitchell Marsh alongside David Warner enter to open for DC. The opening pair Started very well for DC. After 39 runs Mitchell Marsh tried to go up and over the cover but got caught at cover point by Rahul Chahar. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for 20(12) by Arshdeep Singh. 

Well set Warner also departs for just 29 runs playing 21 deliveries. He got caught behind in the slower bouncer delivery of Harshal Patel.

The most awaited man Skipper of DC, Rishabh Pant enters the crease at no 5 to stabilize the inning. Shai Hope was looking good with Pant started building the inning but Shai Hope got caught at short cover by Harpreet Brar scoring 33 runs in 25 balls and Rabada got his first wicket. DC was 94/ 3 at 10.4 over.

Ricky Bhui enters the crease to carry on the scoreboard with the skipper. Skipper who was looking good misjudged the ball and tried to play an uppercut but got soft dismissal as he got caught by Jonny Bairstow at backward point for 18 runs in 13 deliveries.

Tension in DC’s dugout peaked when Bhui also got caught behind by Jitesh Sharma in the 14th over of the inning by Harpreet Brar. Delhi was reduced to 111/5 after 11.4 over. Tristan Stubbs struggling against DC couldn’t maximize the inning for the DC lose their 6th wicket at 128/6 at 15.4 over.

Indian Allrounder Axar Patel played a small inning of 21(13 )but proved effective for DC as they were heading toward a respectable total.

Abhishek Porel was brought in at the tricky stage utilizing the Impact player rule. Porel played an impactful inning in the 20th over of the 1st inning. Young Porel hit Harshal Patel for 5 consecutive boundaries 3 fours and 2 sixes and 1 single at the end making a big 25 run over at the end. Delhi capitals reached 174 runs with an impactful inning of Porel and gave the target of 175 to PBKS.

On the Bowling side, Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets giving just 28 runs with an economy of 7. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar picked up 1 wicket each giving away 36 and 33 runs respectively. Harpreet Brar remains most economical for the side leaking just 14 run in 3-over picking 1 wicket.

THE RUN CHASE

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow entered the crease for the run chase and started with a big over with 18 runs in the very first over of Khalil Ahmed. The opening batsman looked aggressive in the powerplay but Ishant Sharma dismantled the partnership with a beautiful delivery that beat the batter Shikhar Dhawan shattering the wickets. 

Skipper departs scoring 22 runs in 16 balls with 4 fours. Impact Player Prabhsimran Singh came down to bat at No. 3. Another opening batter Bairstow got an unfortunate run-out when the ball was hit by Prabhsimran Singh toward the baller but the ball got deflected by Ishant Singh’s finger directly into the Stumps

England Allrounder Sam Curran Came to bat at no 4 for PBKS and started building the inning with Prabhsimran Singh. Both the batter played well and kept the scoreboard running. Well-set Singh got caught by David Warner at long-on when he tried to go big against spinner Kuldeep Yadav but mistimed the shot and PBKS lost their fourth wicket in the 10th over and got reduced to 84/3.

Sam Curran played a big role in stabilizing the inning for PBKS and slowly leading to the maiden win of the 17th edition for PBKS . Jitesh Sharma after the departure of Singh could not do much and returned to the pavilion after scoring just 5 runs in 5 balls.

The partnership between Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran took PBKS to a comfortable position in the run chase.On the other side, the Injury of Ishant Sharma proved expensive for DC as they struggled to pick up wickets, Other bowlers looked very average and showcased no challenge at the meddle over to Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone.

Finally, in the 19th over Khalil Ahmed broke the partnership by shattering Sam Curran’s wicket, and in just the next delivery dismissed Shashank Singh for a golden duck. 2 wickets at the tail-end of the game could not do much for DC as PBKS needed just 6 runs in 6 balls.

Sumit Kumar was brought into attack for a final over but started with 2 wides. Liam Livingstone hits six in the second ball of the over and finishes off in style for PBKS. PBKS won the match by 4 wickets.
