Swapnil Singh Shines in Debut Match For RCB

Royal Challenger Bengaluru shattered the strong batting line-up of Sunriser Hyderabad after Swapnil Singh shine with both bat and ball for RCB.

SRH has smashed RCB for 287 runs, highest runs in ipl in the previous match they clashed in IPL 2024. RCB fought till the end but fell short of 25 runs as they managed to get only 262 runs on the boards.

RCB has been struggling in this year IPL 2024 with their bowling attack and somewhere with the batting line-up.

Royal Challenger Bengaluru had only won 1 match against Punjab Kings by 4 wickets before the RCB vs SRH match against Punjab Kings and struggled for another 6 matches facing back-to-back losses either at home or away grounds.

During this downfall of RCB, RCB tried and tested each batter and bowler even though IPL was already in the middle phase that could somehow do positive for RCB. 

During this Experimenting Phase, All-Rounder Swapnil Singh got a chance in the playing 11 and Swapnil didn’t upset the selector showing brilliance with both bat and ball.

Swapnil Singh was brought in as the Impact Sub for Bengaluru in place of Rajat Patidar and came to bat at No 8 for RCB when man-in-form Dinesh Kartik got an early dismissal in the fifth ball of the 19th over.

Singh got into a strike in the 20th over of the inning where he smashed six and fours of the first 2 balls of the ultimate over. Though started well but couldn’t manage other boundaries in that over and settled for 12 runs.

Swapnil Singh also did his best with the ball he was brought into attack in the fifth over by du Plessis and Aiden Markaram welcomed Singh with the boundary in his first ball.

Despite getting a boundary in the first ball, he bounced back and bagged dangerous Aiden Markaram with an LBW.

Heinrich Klassen came out to bat at No 5 for SRH but Swapnil trapped Klassen with a shorter length where Klassen mistimed it and the ball went high into the air and was taken by Cameron Green.

Swapnil Singh bagged two dangerous batters in his first over in the RCB debut match against dangerous SRH.

He just bowled 3 overs conceding 40 runs with 2 wickets in his name at an economy of 13.33.

Batting

Swapnil Singh debuted in the T20s in Baroda vs Saurashtra in Barbourne on April 6, 2007, and is yet to play for the Indian Cricket team.

In T2Os Swapnil played 76 matches and 60 innings in it. He had scored 861 runs in T20s remaining unbeaten 21 times. His highest score was 52 and have an average of 22.07 and a strike rate of 126.43 

He had 2 fifties on his name with 52 fours and 43 sixes. 

Bowling

In the Bowling department, Swapnil played 76 matches bowled in 70 innings bowled 1348 balls conceded 1602 runs, and picked up 65 in his name.

 Swapnil had the best bowling figures of 6/19 with an average of 24.64 with economy of 7.13 and a strike rate of 20.7 in the T20s cricket.

Swapnil had his Ipl debut match with Lucknow Super Giants in 2023 where he played in 2 matches but couldn’t leave his impact and got dropped after 2 matches where neither scalped wickets nor got any impactful runs.

LSG left Singh in the 2023 Auction and RCB picked Swapnil for his base price and was benched for the previous 8 matches got a chance in the Ninth match and showcased his skills.

In the end, Royal Challenger Bengaluru won the match by 35 runs after they posted 210 runs on the board while batting first and restricted SRH in just 171 runs taking 8 wickets and had some smiles on their faces.
