The legendary 5 times IPL champion MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to young Ruturaj Gaikwad just 1 day ahead of the 17th edition of the IPL. MS Dhoni had his style of leaving silently yet again he left the CSK at the hand of Gaikwad just by gathering the teammates. The break-out news of MS Dhoni leaving the captaincy overwhelmed with emotion and a whole lot of tears.
“There were a lot of emotions. A whole lot of tears. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the dressing room. Everyone was moved. Last time we weren’t prepared for MS to move and for a change in leadership,”- Stephen Fleming
Stephen Fleming described the emotional moment after MS Dhoni stepped out from the captaincy. Fleming also addressed the last time Dhoni’s move to hand over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja and said that they were not ready for the move of MS and the change in leadership of the most successful franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Stephen Fleming also appreciates new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad “ Ruturaj is very self-assured. Again he’s not the most demonstrative captain but he’s got a very good approach with his fellow players and he’s very well respected,”
Stephen seems to be impressed with Gaikwad for his approach toward the seniors and fellow players in the team. He believes a happy dressing room, freedom for players to play on their own, and Good relations among the players are like a key to a well-balanced team.
CSK CEO Viswanatham responded “ Whatever Dhoni does, it is in the best interest of the team. I got to know of the decision just before the captain’s meeting. You have to respect his decision, it is his call,”
CSK’s CEO had let full of freedom over Dhoni to everything what he feel needed for the betterment of the franchise.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was also seen reacting over his captaincy role of 5 times champion CSK. “ Feels good. It’s a privilege obviously I feel. More than that it’s a huge responsibility But I’m really excited because of the kind of group we have Everyone’s experienced enough so not much of a thing for me to do plus I have Mahi bhai in the team, Jaddu Bhai as well, Ajju bhai as well who has been a great captain to guide me. So nothing much to worry, just looking forward to enjoy,”- Ruturaj Gaikwad
Gaikwad seems to feel relaxed under the shadow of MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravindra Jadeja who have lots of experience to share with Gaikwad.
