Interviewer: What do you think behind ms dhoni’s Success at CSK, the secret behind his success and Can he continue playing IPL Beyond 24?
Navjot Singh Sidhu responded” Look it really is a miracle what he’s done he would be 40 or 41 I’ve never seen anyone”
He compared his playing at this age with Brian Cole, who played at the age of 41. He added,
“ Once you’re not in the swing of things right ( mean not playing regularly) and in the swing of things you tend to lose out look at what happened to Ricky Ponting and look at what happened to Matthew Hayden and someone like Tendulkar.”
Former Cricketer relates MS Dhoni’s Seasonal playing for 2 months in IPL by just practicing a few days before the game. He said, “ It is not easy to go into hibernation like a beer does for 6 to 7 months and then come back pick up the bat, and stand there it’s impossible.”
He also remembered his past incident when he was asked to pick up the bat after 15 years of leaving international cricket and expressed his demotivation to play cricket and said, “ I had not touched a bat because there was no motivation for me the only motivation was to play for India.” but clutched the bat on after hearing Sixer Sidhu, Sixer Sidhu but he realized that there was no way I could hit that ball so the first landed on my stumps.
He feels that despite not being in active cricket for so long Dhoni amazed everybody with his excellence and skill and he comes as if nothing has happened which adds more greatness to his mental fortitude he’s very strong mentally and more so he looks supremely fit at 42.
He further added his expertness in coming death overs and entering the game getting prepared to play helicopter shots and all those things. He felt that it’s a miracle that someone like Mahindra Singh Dhoni still stand Like the Rock of Gibraltar while other great players had collapsed in the late phase of their careers.
